Constant crashes

PostWed Aug 15, 2018 9:05 pm

Hi,

I wanted to test Davinci for editing. Unfortunately it's constantly crashing, making it impossible to work. I get like 10 crashes in 10 minutes. While loading footage, while dragging footage to timeline, while scrolling timeline, while trying to export...
I tried version 15 and 14 - both crashing.

I'm using Mac mini: Core i7 (I7-3720QM), 16GB RAM, OSX 10.13.6

Any ideas?

That computer won't work. Check the Resolve system configuration guide.

What does that mean "it won't work"? Mac mini is in the official system configuration guide. I'm using it for Nuke and 3D software and somehow that doesn't crash.

The Mac Mini is in the config guide as "you could use one as database server" not for workstation use.

Can you post some logs? I'm curious to see where you are crashing. Help menu... Capture Diagnostic logs.

What source footage are you using, and what is your timeline resolution?

Hi Rohit,

Here are the logs: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GDK6HSmVLtTgTrancMOgnbgFImL2zkRD/view?usp=sharing
The project that I tried creating was 720p. Footage was mixed: mp4, dpx and some wav sound files.

Turn all of them into ProRes and it might work OK'ish in 720p.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

So, I'm now on a new machine, and Davinci is beautifully crashing as before.

I'm on Threadripper 1950X (16 cores), 64 GB of RAM, M2 SSD, GTX 1070 Ti, Ubuntu 18.10

If, by some chance, the program won't crash during work, it ALWAYS crashes during rendering. The same happens in Fusion.

I really made several attempt to give this software a try, and perhaps switch. But do you really expect me to pay, for something that is completely useless ?

Hi.

Resolve for Linux only run on Centos 7.

In the top of the forum is a thread called: 'Painless install on Linux Centos 7'

If you need more help is there also a very long thread with more information. Here is a link to it:
