R15.1 Crash in Fusion tab using BG node in linux

PostThu Aug 16, 2018 2:38 pm

Every time I am trying to use background node in Fusion tab I see application crash. Crash happens when I try to merge my newly created BG node with any element or try to view my BG node in the viewer. I am on Resolve Lite. Full log is attached.

Can you try deselecting the GPU for fusion in preferences?

Really sorry for such a delayed reply. I am out of my Resolve box until the end of the week. I'll post my results as soon as I can check it out. Thank you!

Thank you, Peter for this suggestion. I've checked "Always run Fusion on CPU" and things are rock solid stable now with no crashes so far.

This did the trick for me as well.

Thank you, Peter.

After R15.1 installation I cannot find "Always use CPU in Fusion" checkbox. How to disable GPU for Fusion in 15.1? Please advise.

I've got this problem back after R15.1 upgrade. Any clues how to disable GPU acceleration in Fusion? May be some magic string for Advanced Settings window?

1. Open Fusion tab
2. Add BG background node
3. drop it to the viewer
4. get program crash

I can reproduce this on my GTX1070 card. However there is no problem on an ancient Nvidia card I have on my old PC.

I confirm this. The option to run Fusion on CPU seems to be gone from 15.1, which brings back all the instability related to using Fusion on GPU.

2nd confirm.
Resolve 15.1 on Linux crashes nearly instantly when doing something in the Fusion tab.

Resolve 15.1 (I personally call it 15 beta13) crashes here too on Fusion page very often. Not usable at all.
I suggest to remove the SOLUTION string from the topics name.

This issue still exists in Resolve 15.1.1 due to the fact that the 'Always Use Fusion on CPU' option still hasn't been brought back.

Same things here with 15.1.1. I suppose CPU rendering is dropped because of developing complexity of two code bases which are doing the same things. So I believe it's just matter of time to get things working with GPU rendering. Reverted to 15.0 currently to get CPU rendering back

Installed 15.1.2 and switched GPU processing mode to OpenCL. Things look good so far. No crashes yet with OpenCL

I've just hit this and realised the use CPU option for Fusion is gone also. Killing me and OpenCL seems to be no help here :(

Side note, there are a number of things like 'Always run Fusion on CPU' that are still in the manual even though it's gone from the app.

Installed Arch from scratch. Don't have any crashes with neither BG nor other problem nodes I had. Things look rock solid so far. However found some crash isses with using blur in transform node. But using some workarounds such as "do not cache next 5 seconds" in project settings fixed that.
