Bug Report: Most Fusion Titles crash

PostSun Aug 19, 2018 12:13 pm

Dear All,

Am I the only one that has crashing Fusion titles on Linux? Already reported for Beta6 previously (viewtopic.php?f=21&t=76723), but the bug is still in 15.0.

In this particular case, trying to follow this instruction: https://motionarray.com/tutorials/davin ... -templates, but Centre Reveal and many others from the built-in library also still crash as they did before in Betas 6 - 8 ...

EDIT: added 2 zipped STRACE files to the above location:
resolve15_0_TitleNOK.strace.zip
resolve15_0_TitleOK.strace.zip

Archive taken after restarting where I was dragging one of the Shine titles to the timeline in an empty project.

The following is a test of all the built-in FX titles, hopefully this will provide some pointers. Note that DR crashes as soon as the playhead is placed on the title. It can be dragged to the timeline.

Would really appreciate some pointers to get this solved.

Thanks!

Mich.

In an effort to help narrow this down, I was not able to reproduce this with the same titles on either an empty project, nor with one that had a video clip. We have somewhat similar hardware with the biggest difference being that you are on Linux and I am on Windows 10 64-bit. I moved the playhead over the titles both during and after they had been rendered.

Thx Mike. My guess is that it has to do with certain libraries or perhaps fonts that are missing on Linux (or perhaps more specifically: Ubuntu 18.04). I'm going to try later on what happens if I run it under a trace, see if that tells us anything ...

Update:

This did the trick for the TITLES and they now all work:

Sadly, Fusion itself still crashes but I need to learn how to use that first anyway ... Got slightly better stability by setting GPU mode to OpenCL rather than auto.

If I need to work with Fusion, then I set the GPU to OpenCL, but then Resolve becomes almost unbearably slow. It doesn't crash so often in that case though. Pretty much everything else works well with CUDA. Edit hasn't crashed on me for quite a while now but Fusion is the pits :-(
