Ok guys I really need some help. I'm sure there's a million threads on this but I cant find anything that is helping me. I cannot view much pre render, so I cant preview my edit at all. Just slow and lagging. I just upgraded my pc to a 12g ram, 500gb ssd, I7 8th gen Dell. I was hoping this would help but is still just dragging. I can't more than one grand on a computer. I'm only editing footage from my dji 4k and sony a6500.

I've gone through and lowered resolution to a quarter and trying to optimize as well. still nothing. Is it my computer or is there anyone or anything you guys can recommend?

Add a dedicated Nvidia GPU to your system. Resolve does virtually all image processing on the GPU. Also h265 or h264 is heavy and resolve does decoding on the GPU. Still you may have to use optimized media and proxy set to quarter res.

Sorry, missed the point that this a laptop. Then there is probably not much you can do than getting one with a powerful GPU.

Hi.

Yes it its your Computer. When I google it, did I found out it is a Laptop?

In Resolve the CPU is used to run the app, disk I/O and compression and decompression of codecs.
Resolve does all its image processing in the GPU on the graphics card. More CUDA/OpenCL Cores are better.

4K/UHD have 4 times the pixels of Full HD and require much stronger CPU and a GPU with much more CUDA/OpenCl performance and Video ram.

If you don't have dedicated graphics card will Resolve use the OpenCL in the Intel UHD Graphics 620. I never tried it with 4K, but I expect it is much better with HD.

I suggest that you read the Resolve 15 Configuration Guide:

https://documents.blackmagicdesign.com/ ... _Guide.pdf

The are several thing you can try to makes things better. But I wonder if it ever will be good. I don't know where to start.

But may be you can downgrade to Resolve 12, which has less hardware requirements?

Regards Carsten.
