PostMon Sep 24, 2018 12:39 pm

Hi,
Is that kind of available right now to be able to zoom in the timeline where the mouse cursor is ? It's kind of mainstream in many app right now missing badly in resolve ;-)

More specifically how is it that you are looking for it to work?

One zoom feature I'm missing from other apps is the ability to "Lasso Zoom". Holding a modifier key, you drag a marquee selection around a certain section of the timeline and it will instantly snap to fill that zoom level.

It's ESPECIALLY crucial when doing a lot of audio editing, when you are constantly having to go from a zoom out view to a zoomed in view of certain lines, certain words, etc.

There is one hotkey, shift-Z I think, where you can zoom out to see the whole timeline, move your playhead/cursor and then press it again to get to the old zoom Level at the new position. Maybe this helps a bit.

Yeah that shortcut is really helpful. Use that one ask the times

But the zoom to selection is really elegant and helpful in different cases.

In the EDIT panel ;-)
Where your cursor is just alt+scrollwheel, done.

Found this post on google, it's a year old, but is it possible now with Resolve 16 ?
I switched from Premiere, and I'm way too used to zoom on the cursor, this is the source of many frustrating moments when I'm editing in Resolve.

Yes, a "Lasso Zoom"(User specified custom zoom) is missing & is desperately needed!

Zoom still centers on the Playhead.

Still the case in 16.1
Quite frustrating as a user coming from Premiere. I hope this is up on the features list.

Yeah really missing this option too. It's way more intuitive (and faster) to just zoom in where the cursor is at that moment, without clicking first. Besides this option, I also would love to see the option to make the timeline fullscreen, for tweaking with clips.

In a dual-screen setup you can have a fullscreen timeline.

Years later and I still wasn't a fan of the default way. That's great news, thanks for the heads up :D
