DaVinci Resolve 15.1.1 keeps crashing

Hi!

If I create new project and then add solid color Resolve crashes.

Can somebody provide some info why this is happening? Thank you!

I am having the same problem. I add a solid color and bang, it's gone. Sometimes, it happens when I try to change the size. It is happening on all my projects, even something that is brand new and has barely anything in it.

Hi,
I just updated Resolve to 15.2.0.033 and it still does not work.
Up till yesterday, I did not have this problem. Now, it crashes when I try to use a solid colour. I add a solid colour to the timeline, even save the file, but once I try to change something about the gradient, it shuts down. I even tried adding a different Generator item, and the same thing happened.
I just tried it again and added the solid colour, changed the colour, saved the file, tried to scrub over it, and it crashed.
I opened other projects, and even created a brand new project and the same thing happened.
I am not sure how to find the required information, but here is what I have.
My computer is a Microsoft Surface Book.
• Intel® Core(TM) .5-6300 CPU @ 2.40 GHz 2.50
• Windows 10 Pro 1803
• 64 bit
• 8 GB Ram

I experienced this crashing issue with a "Solid Color" (and a "Window") last weekend with a new Project in DVR 14.3!
What happened since I last used "Solid Color" successfully in a project in April/Mai 2018? Two weeks ago, Windows Update upgraded my Workstation from 17/09 to 18/03!
Upgrading DVR 14.3. to 14.3.1 didn't help. I experienced that after opening my old project from April/Mai DVR closed after the whole project was loaded.
For me it looks like a problem, where the OS-Version plays an important role - regardless of the DVR-Version.
So far, I haven't risked to upgrade to DVR 15.x.

Hope my experience can help finding the root cause.

Today upgraded to DVR 15.2.2. No Progress on this issue. DVR still crashing when inserting a solid colour Generator or opening older Projects which contain solid colour Generators.
There is a small Progress: DVR is not quitting without any notification. It's running into the Problem Report Window, where you can send a Problem Report to Blackmagic!

I have the same issue with Resolve 15.2.2 on my Windows Tablet.
Resolve is crashing by inserting a Solid Color, while inserting mp4 files is working well.

Thinkpad Tablet X1 Gen 3
Intel Core i5-8250U 1.60 Ghz
Intel® UHD Graphics 620
8 GB RAM
Windows 10 Pro (17763.253)

(I don't expect big things from this slim hardware, but it's a fantastic mobile working solution for small tasks and creating solid colors is very basic.)

What if you import solid colors as stills? Your hardware is really, really limited and you may need a workaround.

Solid colors as stills is working initially, but at the latest by switching to Fusion Mode it will crash again. Uli, you are right of course, the hardware is limited, but as I said, it would be a fantastic mobile working solution for small tasks. Thank you anyway.

For those with similar requirements and limitations, Fusion 9 is running more stable on my X1 tablet, so it's possible to do simple compositing jobs there.

Fusion 9 is running more stable on my hardware too. Integrated Fusion is still a work-in-progress.

I still stick with VFX Connect. Thankfully I got a Fusion dongle.
