Optimize Media process stops without error message

I'm attempting to opitimize clips but the process stops after a few seconds. No crashing, no error message, just stops without it having completed.
The clip is 4096x2160, 23.976 mxf. Optimize set to quarter resolution.
Media is stored on an external SohoRaid USB3 drive, mac formatted (PC has HFS+ installed).
I usually work on a mac, so not very experienced with PC troubleshooting - just using this machine for its power as there are a lot of large files to opitimze.
