Prevent selection/grading of top track

PostWed Nov 14, 2018 10:39 am

I'm sure this has been asked before but I cannot find a solution.

I have a flattened render with alpha channel of subs, bugs, captions etc. which I want to sit over the individual clips I'm grading. I need to see it but obviously not grade it. Locking the track doesn't prevent it being selected or adjusted in the color page. Every time it is selected it jumps the playhead to the beginning of the clip ie. the beginning of the timeline.

Am I missing a setting? Is there some sort of hack/workaround to stop the top track/clip from being selected whilst in the color page?

Thanks.

In the color page alt-click the number of the track you want to hide.

I am not sure if I understand correctly but if hiding is an option you can also click the unmix button in the source viewer. That's a more elegant way than hiding tracks (especially if you would have to hide lots of tracks that lay on top of the one you want to edit).

Check page 485 in the manual (works also in non-multicam timelines).

Hi Paul,

Hitting Unmix makes only the selected clip visible - which is not what I want: I want to see my subs/bugs/captions clip which is on the top track.
Al+clicking on the track (turning the track icon red) means it is still visible but it doesn't get selected as I navigate through the timeline in the color page.
