Pocket 4K ACES IDT

PostWed Nov 14, 2018 9:39 pm

I was hoping to find an ACES IDT for the Pocket 4K in Resolve 15.2 but I don't see one.

Is there one that I just can't seem to find for some reason or is one going to be added in a future update?

I would presume it's the Blackmagic Design 4K Film.

That's for the Production Camera, the original Ursa, and the Ursa Mini 4K.

And you're thinking it doesn't also apply to the P4K? I'm wondering why not?

Perhaps because it’s a different sensor.

That kind of make sense.

But it's using the same Film profile, isn't it? Isn't that what matters?

Nope. They have different gamma curves and the cameras that have that sensor have color science 1.0 and 3.0 while the Pocket 4K has 4.0.

Thanks, Mark.

This is somewhat...disturbing. I don't have my P4K's yet, but I will before my next shoot, and I do prefer the ACES workflow.

I agree Jim, but I’ve gone back to Resolve rather than ACES until the IDT is available. I was so used to ACES, but not a deal breaker. Just hope it returns with the next update.

As I mentioned in another post tonight, I’m back to using ACEScct. The things I need seem to be there 15.2. They may have been there before but I couldn’t find an appropriate IDT. Issue resolved?

So which IDT are you using? I'm not seeing anything with color version 4.
