Mixer Tracks

PostThu Nov 15, 2018 6:07 pm

Just want to highlight that in Studio version 15.2, the Mixer in both the Edit and Fairlight pages is still not opening with all tracks visible by default.

It should.

That's..frustrating. It means we will have to do it manually in perpetuity.

It means this particular PITA will never go away. :(

I don't understand that. We need to see the tracks to use the mixer. Why would you want to do it manually every - single - time you open a project?

What do you mean? Does it not save your Mixer layout when you quit Resolve? I just tested on a project, I opened out the mixer to show all tracks, I switched pages, I closed the mixer, I changed projects, I quit Resolve. Upon opening the project I'd changed the Mixer layout for, I re-enabled the Mixer panel and it was showing all tracks just as I had left it.

If it showed every track by default then it would lead to a serious lack of timeline real estate on single screen setups. Of course, in dual screen setups you get as many tracks as the second screen can show.

Thanks Tom. For some reason, my mobile device isn't displaying signatures. Perhaps I need to log in again.

Cool, that seems to be fixed.

Still, I find it annoying that I have to do it at all. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want to see all the tracks by default, with newly added tracks expanding the layout automatically. (And deleted tracks shrinking it.)

I suppose that depends on how many tracks you have. That's not a problem for my work. And I imagine that a good portion of those folks mixing dozens of tracks will be using hardware consoles to mix, not the software mixer built-in.

Still, we do need to see the tracks to use them, so what point hiding them by default? Better to manually shrink when necessary than always manually expanding it.
