Resolve 15.2 creating green artefacts.

PostThu Nov 15, 2018 11:46 pm

Laying in new audio tracks into a ProResHQ (input and output) feature is normally a trouble free and painless exercise, but I had to go back to Resolve 15.1.2 to do it due to 15.2 creating horizontal green artefact lines in random places.
I've attached a cropped screenshot as an example.

Is this evident in the iMac or MacPro or both?

Hi Peter,
The problem occurs on my iMac Pro (10.13.6), and on my MacBook Pro (10.12.6) running DR15.2
The cropped screen grab was from the iMac, this screen grab is from the laptop.
I create these types of file on a daily basis, never had a problem like this before, not even with my D700 TrashCan (which is still on DR12.5).
I put both machines back to 15.1.2, even used the same project from 15.2 and the files generated were good and clean from any artefacts.
GPU Mode set to Metal.
Thanks for looking into this,
Scott.

Can you switch to OpenCL mode in preferences and see if that makes a difference?

Switching to away from Metal to OpenCL made the difference. The files took a little longer to generate using OpenCL, but they were clean of any artefacts. Great to know where the Gremlin lies, but I'm going to stay with 15.1.2 and Metal for a little longer I think.
Thanks.

I have the same problem. iMac Pro, MacOS 10.14.1, DR 15.2. Changing to OpenCL fixed output.

I was hoping that green line artefacts occurring using Metal and 15.2 had been fixed in 15.2.1. But unfortunately the problem is ongoing :(

I haven't had this in 15 but have just updated our whole site to v16 after a load of internal testing but the iMac Pros are all showing this same problem when encoding DNXHD media from DNXHD sources. Submitting a big to BMD but searching around for any tips here too.

For now I have gone openCL and turned off GPU scopes which seems to have helped.
