Yeah, they removed both ColorTrace and Duplicate Timeline, which is a real drag. I generally don't mind them adding a feature, but removing stuff (or moving it) irks me on some level. I would rather they give us the alternative of using either method.

Available as a shortcut key only, seems like a bug since those shortcut keys are supposed to mirror existing menu options

Timeline Duplicate you can do by selecting the desired Timeline in the Bin and then Copy / Paste. It will create a copy of the selected timeline.

Yeah, for sure, the functionality is available from the main menu too (as it should be)... but for some its a tiny bit irritating that it was removed from the context menu option for no real reason... as UI design wise, thats exactly what a 'context menu' is for.

thnx all
i searched v15.2.0's kb mapping window last night and it did not return anything when asked for "colortrace", but manualy stepping through the menu's this morning found it... something does not appear to be working in the kb shortcuts search window in v15.2.0

i also searched the manual embedded in 15.2.0 and it said to look for it where it used to be in v15.1.2 and previous, so the documentation needs a small update

when a DRP from 15.2.0 is imported into 15.1.2 the colortrace option is gone, and it has no kb mapping in that version, it's just gone, gone, gone for all timelines

workaround was making a XML of the timeline in 15.1.2, and importing it back into the same project, colortrace now appears in 15.1.2's pulldown menu

and there's still no sign of colortrace in 15.2.0's kb shortcut's when searching, even tho i have it mapped now

so back to work, i have a series with loads of "last week on..." and i use colortrace to pull the grades from the previous episodes as needed automagicly, and error free (usualy)

Make sure you have 'all commands' highlighted when searching for a command

There might be a good reason. You can now duplicate the timeline you're working in from the drop down menu.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Hi all,

I am running Resolve Studio 15.2.033 on Mac (appstore version).

I have still got Colortrace in the ususal place (timelines/colortrace ), and it pops when searching Keyb Customization. (with All commands selected).

Duplicate timeline has been removed though. Can´t find it when searching Keyb Customization either (with All commands selected).

Cheers

Weird I see it in my context menu in 15.2, but it seems to be in different places if you're in a timeline bin vs a normal bin

OK I think I've solved it.

As stated in the manual that comes with 15.2, p.2188 of the August 2018 edition (that's 15.0 for those who are under the impression that a 15.2 manual exists), to use ColorTrace you must

"Open the Edit page and select the Timeline you want to use ColorTrace with
from the Media Pool, then open it and choose Timelines > ColorTrace > ColorTrace From Timeline."

Put another way, the only way ColorTrace will appear in the contextual menu is if the timeline is currently open; moreover, for those using multiple tabs, it must be the timeline that is currently in focus. Previous versions of Resolve followed this, with the caveat that ColorTrace would still appear in the contextual menu - it would just be greyed out.

Given that you can still use ColorTrace for any timeline when using a keyboard shortcut, the option should probably be reinstated, but without ever being greyed out.

Nope, that does not work for me. I always use Timeline bins, and I suspect they forgot to include this functionality with 15.2. I can create a Keyboard shortcut for ColorTrace, but only the Keyboard Customization menu has it.

Note that it's located under Media Pool -> ColorTrace -> ColorTrace from Timeline. This is the functionality that's been removed. We need that restored to the Timeline menu. At the moment, I've given it the command ^⌥c (control-alt-c), which is not something I'm going to hit by mistake.

I don't use ColorTrace that often, but when I do use it, it's generally of massive importance to the point where the project would pretty much collapse without it.

Just a 'for what it's worth' note, but I installed 15.2 on my work PC this morning, opened a project (created in a previous version) and Colortrace was right there in the right-click context menu.
Let's have a return to the glory days, when press releases for new versions included text like "...with over 300 new features and improvements that professional editors and colorists have asked for."

Marc, thanks for the tip to create my own shortcut IOT access ColorTrace. That ended 30 minutes of panic and frustration.
