Help adding Animation to Resolve 15

PostWed Dec 05, 2018 11:21 pm

Hello! I was wondering if anyone could help me a custom animation someone made for me in Resolve 15, I was told, by the person who gave me the animation, that they use Adobe Premiere to edit their videos. Is there anyway i could use the animation for Resolve 15?

Which format did they deliver to you?

A MOV file is just a container. Can you open them in the OS? If not, ask them which codec they used.

If they open but don't import, they are probably in a very ancient codec, called "Animation". Ask them to use a more modern one, like ProRes on the Mac or DNxHR on the PC.

When i try to open the mov files, it says This item was encoded in a format that's not supported. 0xc00d5212

It could be anything. We need a lot more information in order to answer the question. I could tell you: "I have a 12-ounce glass in front of me, filled with something. Is it safe to drink?" :?

If it were After Effects they use, I would bet it is Animation, since that is the (stupid) default in there.
But Premiere? Could be anything, you’ll need to ask those who made the animation. Or get MediaInfo (Free) to identify the codec.
If it is the Animation codec, ask anyone with a Mac, until now it can still open that codec from the Stone Age and transcode it into something usable for Resolve. But hurry up, it’ll disappear in the next Mac OS ;-)
