Grading pocket 4K raw

PostSun Dec 09, 2018 3:33 pm

I have some observations

1. color saturation of shadows and highlights seems higher than pocket/micro/BMPC. I suppose it's good that there is more / better color info in the shadows. But I do find myself having to desaturate the shadows more on pocket 4K footage. Anyone else notice this or is it in my head?

2. So far, im not in love with the IQ. Can't put my finger on it. Could be just that the crop factor is less than the Micro. Maybe I just need to play with it more.

3. Resolve needs a lot of resources for even a simple grade of pocket 4k raw footage. My XPS 15 with GTX 960M and 2GB VRAM isn't able to handle simple grades at 720P display resolution. Pretty depressing.

2 GB VRAM is far below the recommendations for 4K.
But apart from that, Braw will make you feel much better once it comes to the P4K.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.
