Black border from Fusion on Resolve Timeline

PostFri Dec 14, 2018 2:55 am

Compositing a PNG with alpha over my footage in the Fusion page. I go back to my timeline and there's a dirty black bar on the left side of my footage. The footage is positioned properly. The black bar seems to be masking over it. Any ideas what this is? Bug? Bad setting on my part? Searched all over in vain for an answer.

What is your timeline resolution?
Could you maybe have re-positioned the image in the editing page in the horizontal axes?

It isn't repositioned. I move it around all over the place and resize it and the black border doesn't go away or even shift position.

What are the dimensions of the .png and what are the dimensions of the project? Try creating a Background Tool which matches the project and Merge the .png over that - even if you don't see the background underneath it will set the dimensions.

The PNG (Timmy's signs) dimensions are 4096x1716. It is being merged with alpha channel over the original footage, which is not being transformed at all through the Fusion page, and the timeline resolution is also 4096x1716. If I turn off Fusion Effects in the Timeline, the original footage has no borders on it, and turning the Fusion Effects on does NOT transform the image. It appears to simply place that black border on it.

I put a Background node into Fusion and merged both original media and the PNG over it like you suggested (I think), but not sure what that's supposed to do. It does not seem to make any difference whatsoever anyhow.

My thinking was to make sure that the the background tool matches the dimensions of the the project timeline settings, then that may cure your problem

Okay. Yeah, I checked to make sure the Background node was the same as the Timeline dimensions, and . . . that actually introduced a NEW black border on the top of the frame. Weird.
