Error on Installation: MinGW Runtime Assertion failed!

I bought a new laptop and have tried installing DaVinci Resolve over and over again with no success

After installation, I run through the quick setup and after I finish it I get this error

MinGW Runtime Assertion
Assertion failed!

Program: C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Onboarding\DaVinci Resolve Welcome.exe Fil: ..\..UI\Onboarding\UiResolveOnBoardingIPC.cpp, Line 91

Expression: p_Socket && (p_Socket - > state() ==
QLocalSocket::ConnectedState)

I have an MSI p65 Creators Edition Laptop
i7 8750H
512 SSD
32 gigs of RAM
GTW 1070 MaxQ
Windows 10 pro

After getting this error I try opening resolve and it won't open, just a quick hourglass and then nothing. Resolve shows up in task manager and I have to manually close it.

I've tried installing every version of resolve from 14-15.2.2 and get the same results.
I've updated every driver I can find.
I've tried changing my Nvidia setting so that it's using the right GPU

I would love any help I can get

Thanks

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

You are suffering from the Intel igdrclneo64.dll issue.

Follow the guidance in my last post on this thread:

I've been searching my computer and following the post that you linked.

igdrclneo64.dll does not seem to be on my computer anywhere that I can find.
I've looked through C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository manually as well as running searches for it both there and on the entire C drive, with no luck.

Since it seems to be related to the intel video drivers I tried connecting an external display and disabling the Intel graphics in device manager. Resolved opened like normal, but as soon as I re-enable the Intel drivers resolve will no longer launch.

Edit:

C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\iigd_base.inf_amd64_acffd9292112a98d
Seems to be location of my intel video driver

Yes, that is the path. And my mistake. I saw an Intel dll error in the Windows Error log and made the rash assumption it was the standard Intel error. But apparently, there is more than 1 dll that can cause issues.

In your case, the file was igdrcl64.dll and not the normal igdrclneo64.dll.

So probably, if you delete that file, it will fix the issue.

Hi Dwaine,

I am experiencing the same issue with Resolve. I ran a search for the igdrcl64.dll file and had two results come up within the System32/DriverStore/FileRepository. Both files are owned by the SYSTEM and won't allow me to delete or rename them. Any thoughts?

If you have admin privileges, I would expect it to allow you to delete the files. Others have reported that they couldn't rename the files, but were able to delete them.

Which problem do you have? That Resolve is crashing, or that you can't delete the igdrcl64.dll file(s)?

If you can't delete the files, install the DDU utility ( https://www.wagnardsoft.com/ ) and uninstall JUST the Intel GPU drivers.

Please let us know how that works.

Hey There,

Saw that you were the man to go to to solve your resolve problems.

I have an MSI laptop and recently purchased the BMPCC 4k, which as you know includes Resolves, I installed it and opened the application and which through the initial questions and Resolve said that I had windows and a medium grade graphic card, but still approved. Then when the application started up a message popped up that it failed and now the application won't launch at all.

Any ideas on solutions to this problem would be greatly appreciated!

@Brian: Same advice:

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.
