Jumping Between Video Tracks in Color Page ... (Feat. Req.?)

PostFri Jan 11, 2019 1:19 pm

Hi Folks,

I was wondering if there was a way to jump between video tracks but keep the playhead at the same point?

An example:

Clip A on V1 and Clip B on V2. Both clips are the same length on the timeline and laying on top of each other.
If I park on a frame on Clip A on the timeline then select Clip B in the color page, Clip B jumps to the beginning of Clip B.

This is a bit annoying in scenarios where you want to compare multiple versions, or in a situation where you have a background plate and multiple foreground clips on additional and separate tracks (i.e split screens).

Is there a way to do this or would this be a feature request?

I found a user setting where you can set the frame number where the clips cues to automatically, but this is a global setting and if you have multiple clips on the timeline that you want to split, the number set might not do the trick on all clips.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks,

C.

+1 Oh yes a "lock Playhead" feature or something similar would be nice.

My current workaround is to cut all the layers temporarly in the edit page just to keep the playhead in place while using the color page.

The only way I know of is by using the mouse to disable a track.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Hello,

It is possible to have up to 4 playhead in the Color tab.
(look in the COLOR menu ... Active Playhead ...)

Yes, but the playheads cannot be locked.

You can have them independent in different places on the timeline like your screengrab.

Try putting 4 clips on top of one another on separate video tracks. Jump 10 frames ahead on playhead A and then add 3 more playheads to toggle between the clips. Even with 4 playheads parked on the same frames, you will see that every time you click a clips thumbnail on the color timeline, the playhead jumps to the first frame of the shot.

You also cannot gang playheads which is probably another feature request.
