Davinci won't open at all on new Laptop

Hello,
After using Resolve for a long time on my old laptop for various projects, I decided to buy myself a new, strong laptop for video editing. After installing Resolve I tested it quickly and it worked smoothly without any problems.
One hour later (after some windows updates etc.) the program won't start at all, except showing up as a progress in my task manager.
Tried updating all my drivers, reinstalling Resolve completely and changing some NVIDIA settings, all suggestions I found in this forum.
Anybody any advice or help?

My specs:
MSI GV72 Laptop / Windows 10
16 GB RAM
Intel Core i7-8750H
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060

Hi.

If you are right about that it is Windows Updates that give you problems can you Uninstall Updates.
Here is a link 'How to Roll Back Builds and Uninstall Updates on Windows 10'

Normally do I recommend people to enable and use Restore points on their Windows boot drive:

I tried that and rolled back on all the windows updates.. unfortunately still the same problem.
any way to check whether any updated drivers are not compatible?

Windows updates sometimes messes with the CUDA driver. Try reinstalling your nVidia driver using the clean install option.

I tried that, thank you,
still didn't work - except this time the loading screen showed up for one second before this : https://imgur.com/a/J89F81J

since then it went back to not opening at all.
after that I tried one more time to reinstall and restart the PC - no success :(

Check your network settings. It looks like Resolve is trying to open a network conection, and that connection is failing.

Also, the easy way to keep your nVidia drivers up to date is to simply install the GeForce experience app from nVidia.

And hopefully BMD will chime in with more info :)

Hi.

On the HDD is a recovery partition, you can use to reset your MSI to Factory setting.

Here are some links to the MSI Forum:

https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=292440.0

https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=300191.0

https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=279602.0

But then there is a big chance that you will come back to the same situation.
And all installed program will be removed.

So I will recommend you to try to find the problem by just trying.

As a last solution can you always download a new Windows 10 from Microsoft and then install it.
But then it can take some time to find, download and install all the different special drivers you need. If any.

If you end up with this solution will I suggest you run a key finder program first as many preinstalled Windows have an another Windows Key than the one that is printed on a label under your laptop.

Regards Carsten.

Just wanted to thank you for your tips, I just resetted the whole laptop and reinstalled everything, now Davinci is working just fine -even after updating everything. The only thing I didn't touch for now is installing the newest driver for my GPU, hope that it will not summon the samle problems once I do this in the future.

Hi.

You are welcome. But then I will suggest you, first to enable and then create a restore point for your Windows boot drive, so you easy some time in the future can come back to where you are now. Here is a link:
