Adjust the Spread parameter in the Panner.

depends on what you are trying to achieve, as there are multiple methods of achieving the same result.

Hi and thank you for your support, i try your method but doesn't work for me, same problem, i make a stereo track with 2 different songs, one pan 100% left and another one song pan 100% right in Audition...export vaw stereo track...if i use your method i hear both songs but in mono, doesn't matter if i pan left or right.

If you give me your mail adress i can send you a video file to see.

Thank you.

Panning works best with mono sources so you can position in the stereo field. Stereo sources are meant to be stereo (stereo music) , therefore not panned. If the left and right source channels are different music tracks (presumably mono) then you really need to import them as mono.

Hi, i understand you, but i work with some DAW's (Cubase, Logic Pro, Audition..) and if i have a stereo track and for example i pan 100% i hear only left channel, i don't have signal on the right channel...i don't know if i have a problem with my settings... or it's a problem from Davinci Resolve / Fairlight... i think is not normal if i pan left 100% ( or right) to hear and have signal on right channel and reverse.

You can see that in my photos.

For me when i pan left 100% (or right), the left channel increase volume with aprox 25-50% i think and the right channel decrease volume with aprox 25-50% i think...it's not a major problem but...for ex... if i want to hear only one channel from a stereo track (shot with my UMP4.6K...1 lav mic + 1 mic ambiance...or 2 lav mic)...how can i do quickly...i must set in "clip attributes" / audio to make mono channel for each channel (make two mono tracks: L + R) ?

I ask all this beacuse i want to know if i have a problem or it normal in Davinci Resolve / Fairlight.

Thank you.

Instantiate an instance of the Fairlight AFX Stereo Fixer on the Audio Clip or Track.

Hello Amer,
Try with this Stereo Audio in a Stereo Audio TL with a Stereo Audio Bus

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1R5Y7Ps ... sp=sharing

Then do what you were told: Pan to Left and Spread to PNT

right_to_left.jpg

Normally: you only have to hear in the left channel, even if the source channel is on the right. :)

Amer, as mentioned in my previous post, instantiate an instance of the Fairlight AFX Stereo Fixer on the Audio Clip or Track and select either "Left Only" or "Right Only".

It is important to understand that Resolve's Panner is not a balance control.

Hi,

Thank you for support, I wanted to know if this is working Davinci Resolve / Fairlight or it's a problem in my system.

It's not a major problem for me but now i but now I understand how it works.

@reynald

Thank you for shedding some light on this! BTW... if paning is not for "balance" then what is it? Seems like panning essentially is balance on most other hardware / software.

Also on my computer when I use the stereo fix afx as you suggest meters do then show "balance" control with say all audio on the L meter however my computer speakers STILL have full sound on both channels!

BTW... in reaper software pan works just as one would expect on the meters and the speakers

A Balance control merely reduces the volume on one side and raises it on the other. A pan control progressively mixes one side into the other hence a stereo track becomes a mono one if you pan fully left or right.

As to the sound coming out of both speakers when you select the left only channel in Stereo Fixer, it is merely sending the output of that channel to both audio outputs on your computer. If you only want it out of one side turn down the left or right Output Gain controls on Stereo Fixer.

Just been experimenting and found a way to split stereo in Resolve into two mono tracks.
Right click on the audio clip in the Media Pool and select Clip Attributes. Click on the audio tab. Change the Format to Mono and Tracks to 2. Click the Add button. You will get two more mono entries for Embedded Channels 1 & 2. Then click on the Stereo track and click the bin symbol to remove it. Now when you drag that file into the timeline it will be two mono tracks which you can play around with separately. Pic shows what you end up with.

So? And what should one do to balance stereo track between left and right channels? Nol answer has been posted. Isn't anyone faced the same problem?

Alexander, if you are talking about a stereo track where the levels are different between the left and right, use the Stereo Fixer plugin which you can use to raise or lower an individual channel. Look at page 3321 of the manual.

If anyone is having the same problem as Amir, then read on. I assume from his description that he has a stereo track with different content on each channel. Using the Pan control on a stereo track will mix right onto left or left onto right. It will not pan the channels independently. Either the stereo track needs to be split into two mono tracks, or the audio needs to be imported as two mono tracks. Only then can you have panning control of each individually.
With a mono track you will get a single source in the Pan control which you can move wherever you wish.

I have made a quick video explaining how to split a stereo clip into two mono ones. You can view it here.
