Can I still buy a license for v.14? And then upgrade to v.15

PostWed Jan 23, 2019 5:04 am

I don't think my mac will be able to run v.15 and so I am running v.14. I have a few running projects so I am not going to try to upgrade before I'm finished.

I'd like to buy a license for DR 14. Is this possible? How?

If I do, would this license work for DR 15?

Thank you.

The license is the same for v14 and v15. So you can buy Resolve Studio license and use with both v14 and v15.

Do you have a copy of the Studio Version of DR14? Or do you have a place from which to download it?

If the free version of DR14 is working for you, why change to the studio version?

Well, even in 14 the studio version has some interesting features to offer.
To get older versions, just scroll down.

Thank you everyone.

I will be getting a license to use some of the noise reduction features unavailable in the free version.

Peter, if I am to install v. 15, would v.14 still be operational?

Or, if I install v.15 and then uninstall to replace with v.14, is there a risk to not be able to install v.14 because of system changes made by the v.15 installation?

Only one version can be installed at a time. On Mac, you can install the desired version over whatever version is currently installed.

Resolve 15 projects are not usable in Resolve 14.

Resolve 14 database needs to be upgraded to Resolve 15, if you desire to use V14 projects in V15. Once you upgrade the database from V14 to V15, it will not work in V14.

It's highly recommended to backup the database before a Resolve version update, in case you wish to return to the earlier version and use projects created in that earlier version.

If you want to have both versions, it's very easy to make a separate boot disk for a Mac and run it from there.
I use this a lot for 'sandboxing' if I'm not sure about new software.
