Title with words in different colours, how??

PostFri Feb 01, 2019 6:29 pm

Hi all,

Sorry if this is a dumb question but i am trying to create a title and the words need to be:

Mod or Fix
Mod in Green, or in Black and Fix in Red. I was able to do it easily in Adobe Premiere by highlighting the text and changing the colour, but no such luck in resolve. Any ideas?

You can do this with Text+ by enabling "Character Level Styling" by right clicking near the styled text box. I believe you have to be in the Fusion Page by the way. The Modifiers tab in the inspector will light up and then you can use those tools to modify your selected text. To select simply draw a box around the characters on your viewer with your cursor, you'll know what is selected by green brackets over top and bottom of characters. I hope that makes sense, there is more information on this on page 1448 of the manual.

For a normal Text, highlight the word, change it's color.

Done.

I can't make this work any way I try in Studio 15.3.2 on Windows 10 Pro (1803). Every letter in the Text+ is changed simultaneously.

A bug maybe?

Time to read how to do it in the Resolve User Manual. It's easy. Not a bug.

That didn't work under 15.2.3.

Still doesn't work using 15.2.4.

I can find no method to change part of a Text+ title.

A bug?

I show you step by step how to do it in the YouTube video above. You right click in the text box, you choose "Character level styling" . You then left click and drag around the characters you want to be a different color. You then go to the Modifiers tab, click on tab that looks like a paintbrush, then choose your color.

Very easy to do with just "Text". Type in your text, then highlight letter or letters and change the colour.

In an above post he stated that he knows how to do it in the Text Title, he can't get it to work in the Text+ Title .

Can you post a screenshot of both your Edit tab and your Fusion tab, might help to figure out what is going on with your setup.

I just tested xunile's method. It works. You will need to follow his instructions EXACTLY. It is not obvious at all and can only be done in the Fusion page.

Well, a reboot has solved the issue.

Should have tried that right away.

Thanks guys.

I also got to the point where there was "nothing underneath" of "CharacterLevelStyling1" section. This is incredible quirk of Resolve (still in 17), just double-click that title and it will expand the section. There is no other "enabler" to do it which is extremely UX unfriendly.
But I learned something new in this thread, so thank you all. ;-)

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work with 3D text in Fusion tab.
