Free vs Studio: same GUI for basic video- and audio-editing?

PostSat Feb 16, 2019 1:00 pm

Hello

Since I would appreciate to have built-in h264/mp4-output, I intend to buy the DVR Studio
for Linux. At the beginning, it's unlikely that I need the Studio features...

Question:
Is the way to use the basic video- and audio-editing tools the same in DaVinci Resolve
the same as in the Studio/paid version?

Thank's a lot!

Hi Bill,

I can only speak for the Windows version but yes, the editing and color grading basic tools and workflow is the same between the free and studio versions so learning the basics on the free version will translate directly to the studio version. The studio version has a few extras such as additional OFX effects and noise reduction tools and apparently performance improvements for h264 playback (you can find a comparison matrix on BMD site).
