Needed to work with M4V - no audio

I imported couple of M4v files into project and started playing them. And … no audio! Is M4V an unsupported format?

I had to use competitor's suite to convert them first!

Am I missing something here?

M4V is the video only version of MP4.

M4A is the audio only version of MP4.

No, it's not. I open it in Windows Media Player (or any other player) and I hear the sound!

It had has extension then. Rename to .mp4.

ok, after renaming I imported the files into Resolve and I still don't have audio!

here we go:

File has HE-AAC v2 audio track.
Maybe Resolve doesn't support HE-AAC, just AAC audio.
Your file is from mobile etc. with variable fps. Bad recording for use in Resolve.

You may want to put it through ffmpeg:

ffmpeg -i source.m4v -r 30 -c:v copy -c:a pcm_s16le out.mov
It's very fast conversion changing audio to PCM and copying video untouched.
