Resolve 15 crashing when creating folder

I know there is 16 coming soon, but meanwhile I have problems with the latest non beta Studio version of Resolve.

Everytime I am trying to create folder via Resolve on Deliver page (thourh Location/Browse) Resolve crash. It is not that big of a deal, I can live with that ). Anyone have same problem?

Anyway, looking forward to 16!

Yes, I have the same issue since version 15 ans it still going on in 16 b3. 2 friends of mine have the same issue too.

Here go the crash log... and for information, this happens in 2 diferent machines. One at home and aother at work.

I have this bug on every windows 10 machine I have and others I do not own.
Doesn’t happen on windows 7 for some reason.

Any news?? here it continues crashing... DR 16 beta 7

Never had this problem in any version of Studio Resolve for Windows. I was running 1809 until a few days ago. Now running 1903 and still working fine.

Provide a Resolve Log and a Windows .NFO file and a project export .drp of a project that has this behavior, and an explanation of exactly what you are doing on the Deliver page to cause the crash.

I have already posted a log file on this thread about this bug, is it necessary to post again? The bug continues in new 16.1 b2 version. I know more 3 people friend of me that have same issue. This happens ramdomly in any project, so there is no need to send a drp from a specific projet, that happens in any project. Just in a few times the bug do not happen, but about 10% od the times. In delivery page, when you will set a export folder... if you try to create a folder, it just crashes. Almost Every time I have to go outside of Resolve, create the folder in the windows explorer, than came back to resolve and just point that folder for the export. If I try to create that folder inside of resolve, it crashes. For my speccs and etc, please see my previous post on this topic. TIA

Getting this as well on Windows 10 Pro ver.1809.
Both 16.0 and 15.3.1 are doing it.
We have three Windows 10 workstations and they all do it.

Same issue here, have had it for years. Went away for a bit just after updating to Windows 1903. But as soon as I updated Resolve, it came back. Very simple - as soon as you try and create a folder through resolve invoking Explorer (browse to location during delivery, right click, create folder), the application crashes. Every time. Is that how you are attempting to create the new folder?

I'm confused about what Rowan is right clicking to create a folder.

Yes that's exactly what I just tried - and Resolve crashed.

Resolve didn't generate a crash log, just a message box saying it had to close. Please see the attached image.

Right. So:

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).


Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

Ok here's an update - I don't know if this is useful or not...

I just opened Resolve and tried to create a new folder in the Deliver tab and... it didn't crash. I created three new folders, no crash. I was in dual screen mode so I changed to single screen mode. Tried to create another new folder - and Resolve crashed.

I then restarted Resolve, changed to single screen mode on the Edit tab and then closed it. Reopened the program and happily created more new folders on the Deliver tab. I then changed back to Dual Screen mode and tried to create a new folder - and it crashed.

So it seems that if you change from dual screen to single screen mode (or vice versa) on the Deliver tab and then try to create a new folder, that is when the crashes occur.

Right. So:

Just on this question that you raised - instead of clicking on the New Folder button, you can right click anywhere in the folder window and then choose New-Folder from the pop up menu.

I just tried that and it works fine if I don't change between dual/single screen mode. If I do make that change then Resolve crashes as soon as I right click in the folder - even before the pop up menu appears.

I use a Tangent Ripple for colour grading and a Countour Shuttle Xpress jog/shuttle controller. Are either of those affected by removing the Resolve Panels?

The Ripple panels have their own panel daemon. I have no idea what the Shuttle Express interacts with, but highly doubtful it uses the Resolve panel driver. But, I'm not sure.

At any rate, you can always reinstall the Resolve Panel app if needed, but to do that, you'll need to uninstall Resolve first, since the Resolve installer won't launch if the same version is already installed.

Using the last 2 resolve updates, it seems the problem is gone.... does any one can confirm that?
