Resolve Video editing

PostSun May 19, 2019 11:56 am

I'm using a linux distribution called blackPanther OS (built on Mandriva) and i can't use my video files.
I can import them (MP4 - 264) but Resolve shows them as an audio file.
On Win 10 works fine

I guess you're using the free version of Resolve?

I believe that (for licensing reasons?) there's no H264 support built into the free version under Linux. You'll have to either stump up for the studio version or transcode your files to a format that is supported.

Note that H264 *is* supported under Windows 10 on the free version.

Thank you for your answer.
That's sad because it's an amazing video editor software and i don't care about Windows.

I could careless about WIN/MAC myself, and have dual boot Linux that I favor as well.
But Resolve is cheaper than a sub to Adobe. Why not just purchase it?

The OP has to ask himself: "Do I dislike Windows more or less than my inability to import H.264 files in Resolve on Linux, without spending $299 (which otherwise may be an unnecessary investment)?"
