Blur effect doesn't stay within window or selected area

PostMon Jun 17, 2019 1:34 pm

Hi

I have selected an area that I would like to blur out. I have then used the tracking feature both automatically and manually where necessary. Trouble I'm having is the Blur is being applied at an offset, the further away the selection is from the centre of the footage the further the offset is.

How do you lock down the blur to stay within my tracked selection regardless of screen position? I have tried the latest stable and beta builds and I can't get the effect to stay within the selection.

Thanks

Can you provide a still of the problem? Can you describe the specific image -- is it a face, a car, a license tag, somebody's skin, a candle flame?

In general, you can confine a blur to happen only inside a power window (or any other custom shape), but a lot depends on the nature of how that blur is applied, and what specific blur tools you're using.

Hi, thanks for both getting back to me. The clip is set to Square, if I set it to cinemascope the aspect ratio is all wrong.

Please find attached a screenshot of the problem, the screenshot shows the area selected but the blur is a different size and offset underneath. The further from the center I move the power window the further away from the selection the blur is applied.

Bit of background, this project was imported from Final Cut Pro using XML. All clips & timeline are set to 4k.

I was on 16beta4 and then reverted back to 15.3 because I thought it might be an issue with the beta release.

I went to check the aspect ratio and non of them where selected. I have since selected 1.77 and the power window is now working.

Many thanks to everyone.
