DaVinci keeps crashing at 99% render

PostTue Jun 18, 2019 4:37 pm

I am so angry. One. With myself for having an old machine. 2. because Da vinci has now crashed 3 times on me at 99 %. I'm a total noob btw but I have already made one video and although it took some time to render, it worked fine in general.

This time however it showed red lines where the blue render line's supposed to be. so I re-edited them or took them out completely and it just keeps doing the same thing. Can someone lead me in the right direction. no jargon please! i need this to be simplified. Thank you

Make sure that you have enough free space on your hard drive for the rendered file. IIRC, this has happened to me, solved when I freed up some additional space.

I don't recall seeing an error message at that point. Maybe something for the DR team to look into.

Are trying to render h264/h265?

If so, try render an intermediate codec like ProRes or DNX. then from there do your h264

Hello,

Not easy without the desciptions of your system   :

Try to reduce the speed of delivery
Delivery page => FILE tab
Render speed: 1.2, n FPS vs Maximum :(

Perhaps
-GPU overload
-a PSU not powerful enough
-?

Do not forget that Davinci Resolve makes the most of a system's resources.
very terrible :)

You can try rendering in an image sequence format like dpx, if it crashes you can start a new render where it left off, or do the whole thing be sections.

Then import the dpx into resolve and render a QT or desired format. To render the dpx would be a lighter task because it already has the corrections baked in.

I know this is not ideal because it needs to be rendered twice but at least you'll get your movie out.

Another option is to convert the dpx in another program but you'll have to add the audio.

This is a preferred method... always...

Waiting for the OP to visit this again. If the problem is really that there is insufficient disk space to store the rendered file, and the OP switches to a format that uses a higher bit rate, then the render should fail earlier than it is now (99%).

In post production, if you have no space, you have no project.
