LENOVO Y740 problem with Resolve performance

PostTue Jun 25, 2019 2:43 pm

Hi guys,

I’m opening this thread because I’m facing some unpleasant issues with my new laptop and now I’m at a total loss for a solution, as it seems it’s only me who’s having them.

My laptop is a 2019 Lenovo Legion Y740 with the following specs:

i7-8750H

16Gb ram

GTX 2060 6Gb

Win10 Home last update

All graphic drivers and OS updates seem to be up-to-date. Also, I don’t know if it’s an important info, but main drive is a 256Gb NVME SSD.

So, basically the issues I’m having are these:

on resolve (version 15 and 16 beta4), I don’t understand why but I’m getting choppy playback and lag, and a gpu usage of max 20-25%. The exports are good but I’m not getting the same benchs and results like others I’ve seen online: for example, many users show maximum gpu usage, while I’m getting almost nothing.

First, I changed the power settings to “max performance” on Win10.

On the Nvidia control panel, I tried both the auto select of the graphic processor, and then forced the “high-performance nvidia processor” to let both program just use the 2060.

Nothing of what I’ve done above gave any good results, and now I really don’t know what else I should try to solve these issues. Even my old laptop, a 2013 Lenovo Y580 i7-3630 and gtx660, is working much better than this one, this is making me crazy…

Thank you.

Hello,

I have the same problem. Choppy playback on my Dell XPS 15.
Does the Lenovo also relaying Nvidia graphics output through the integrated intel processor GPU? Means: Is there also a Intel GPU which cannot be diabled in this notebook?

Regards
Andreas

Can you disable the Intel graphics (onboard with the CPU) with Device Manager?

No, it depends on the Intel GPU.
