Resolve 16b - Timelines added to master timeline - Problem

PostTue Jul 16, 2019 2:39 pm

Hi,
I am making a small film (about 8 minutes in length) and I have edited each scene in a different timeline with the intention to gang them all together for the final cut. This has worked very well except on my now final timeline which is an assembly of scenes 1 to 6 it is not possible to include transitions between each timeline. Something like a dissolve. The only way I can see to do this now is go to each separate timeline, select all clips, copy and paste to the final timeline then add the transition. Defeats the object really.

You need to make your individual timelines have a little extra at the top and tail so there are frames for the transition to act upon.

Thanks Peter. I should have thought of that.

You can also 'decompose in place' after editing into the final timeline which will show all the original clips.

I have a different problem. I also want to gang different timelines in my final timeline together, but unfortunately the sound track of the different timelines don't get pasted, when I drag the different timelines into my final timeline. Also when I click "decompose", there is no audio track. Is there anywhere I should enable sound for this workflow

Try shift drag to see what happens. That should only carry the audio portion of the dragged timeline. If you want to do the same with the video option (on a Mac) drag.

I like the idea to decompose in place at the end of the assembly.

Thank you. Somehow it did the trick. Now I get video and sound just by dragging it in. But there are a few hiccups now and then so I guess it’s really better to decompose once your ready to render out the film.
