10 FPS playback in Fusion page even with green line?

PostSun Aug 11, 2019 11:36 pm

Hey everyone. Resolve/Fusion newcomer here. I'm going through some test to see if working with EXR sequences is feasible in Fusion. Whenever I try to play back my composition in the fusion page it plays through once slowly, as expected, and I see the green line build, but playback always stays less than real time. Its a 30fps comp, but playback won't get past 22 fps even with no nodes. And once I start adding nodes it just goes down from there. Switching to the edit page seems to play through and cache the comp very smoothly. But is there not a way to preview real time playback in the Fusion page? I don't want to keep having to switch over to edit once I'm in the zone with fusion. Thanks for any help!

Resolve 16, Windows 10, 7700k, nvme SSD, 4x 1080ti.

I think I am experiencing the same issue: viewtopic.php?f=32&t=95158&p=528075&hilit=playback+fusion+fps#p528075

Did you ever figure out a solution?

What is the format of your optimized media? I've discovered that DR caches files that cover one frame. A 4K frame in 16-bit float requires 55.3 MB. Do the math and see what bandwidth you need for a particular framerate. 30 fps would be 1.66 GB/sec. A SATA SSD does not provide that bandwidth, an NVMe M.2 drive might.

Find out where your cache is and explore it a bit. The files are named cryptically so you'll have to look at the timestamps. See what the .dvcc filesizes are.

I have no issues with playback speed in the standalone version of Fusion—and doesn't Fusion cache frames to RAM for playback? My optimized media format in Resolve is set to ProRes, but I don't understand what that would have to do with playback in the Fusion page.

When you open the Fusion page:
Look at Fusion Settings? Path ?

I see you have Reactor. You better ask your question in the Fusion forum?

7700k, nvme SSD, 4x 1080ti?

Does this mean that it is a nvme SSD 4x pci or that you have 4 1080ti graphics cards?

Have you tested if your graphics card uses all 16x pci lanes? With a graphics card and a nvme SSD pci 4x - you need 20 pci lanes - your cpu 7700K can only handle 16x pci lanes - here the speed will then drop to 8x on your graphics card!

Do you have a minimum 32GB system ram for Fusion?

What motherboard do you have ?
