Markers import from Reaper not working

PostFri Aug 23, 2019 10:24 am

You can't import markers with the help of "Markers only" in Reaper WAV render function.
You can't import markers from Reaper with generated EDL file, the formats are different (Resolve <-> Reaper)

Can Reaper export other formats?
Will scripting be a good solution for you?
Can you share an example file from Reaper?

The file types seem to me completely different. After the import in Resolve nothing happens.

I tried to integrate the markers to the audio file(in Reaper) and I hoped Resolve can recognise it but not.
The other function what i know in the Reaper is the "Save project as..." in EDL format but it wasn't good as well, the Resolve didn't do anything after the import process: "Timeline markers from EDL"

What do you think? Scripting in Resolve? Can you link an example?

Thank you so much!

My original problem was I had to edit(remix, change length) music in an external editor(Reaper) because in Fairlight I can't set bpm as timecode, but this cause another problem, resolve lock the file during its running, so the Reaper can't overwrite the old music file with the new one, so I had to import over and over again but during the import I lost the Resolve markers.

After some hours I figured out a relative good workaround: I use a compound clip, putting music file into and on the enclosing timeline I can set markers on this embedded compound clip so I can change the music files without losing markers :)

The better solution would be if the "replace selected clip" function didn't remove the markers!

Bye

I checked the scripting possibilities and it seems the resolve scripting is incredible basic and under documented, is good for only playing.

That's not the behaviour on my systems, Clip Markers are retained with the "Replace Selected Clip" command.

If you're running Resolve Studio, you can slave Reaper to Resolve via LTC.

A system spec may be useful: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=90190

POSSIBLE SOLUTION:

OK, I'm getting understand the problem there are two case 1.: when you add markers to the clip on a timeline and 2.: when you add markers to the clip what you opened from the media pool. The "replace selected clip" function will remove markers what you add to the clip on the timeline, but preserve ones what you add from media pool. Yeah :)
