What do you use to transcode files for DR

PostFri Sep 13, 2019 4:49 am

Hello everyone a quick question. I have a new 4K camcorder and it shoots in AVC Long GOP High. What software are you using to convert \ transcoder your clips to work in DR?

does resolve read the file? if so, you can use resolve itself.

I use EditReady for quirky formats.

Use Optimized Media. I recommend Cineform at 1/4 res.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

If your clip is not read in the media page: you will have to transcode by an external tool to a format compatible with Davinci Resolve. Do a search in the forum.

For compatible formats:

https://documents.blackmagicdesign.com/ ... 4726738000

Do not worry that there are formats compatible with the Studio or FREE version.

I am looking for software to convert the clips to DNXHR. Forgot to add this is for a PC not a MAC.

In my DR Studio running under Windows 10, I see that there's an option to deliver DNxHR in a Quicktime container or an MXF container. Also, under the Project Settings I can set DR to make DNxHR proxies. Why won't these options work for you?
