Weird Magic Mask

PostThu Mar 28, 2024 1:27 pm

Hi,

I have a weird mask with Magic Mask.

I add a stroke. The mask will be fine while Magic Mask is tracking. But when tracking is finished, next frame of first stroke frame is not actually generated.

I add first Stroke in frame 0. But Magic Mask doesn't generate the mask in frame 1.
If I add first Stroke in frame 10, Magic mask doesn't generate the mask in frame 11.

Of course, adding another stroke to the next frame solves the problem. But isn't it a waste of time?

Please tell me the correct way to use Magic mask!

It seems to have learned a bad habit, or developed a sense of humour and that's it's idea of a practical joke.

Not that this fixes the problem, but you could save the masks to file then fix the glitching frame and save that by itself. Otherwise its not the first instance I've seen where Fusion has started playing practical jokes, one time it made its UI unconfigurable for no reason what so ever. That joke is getting very old though and tbh I never found it funny the first time.

Hey

Imho, it's a cache issue (yes, another one), though I couldn't tell you how to fix it ...

Obviously, starting the track a few frames before it's needed appears to be a troubleshooting solution for you. And btw, what if you start a reverse tracking from a couple of frames after to cover the missing one, does it fail the same way ?

Nothing you do works except add strokes. I too think it is a cache issue as it appears normal during tracking. OFX (especially Sahaire) has similar problems.

Looks like the AI's personality changed after v19. Super fast. The above problem was solved.

However, compared to Fusion Page and Color Page in Resolve, Fusion Studio does not seem to function properly.
  • UI issue
    1. Write a Stroke on frame 0.
    2. Track Forward from 0 to 150.
    3. Frame 50 has a problem, so add a Stroke.
    4. Press Track Forward again at frame 50.
Resolve will restart tracking from 50, but Fusion Studio will track from 0 again.
    5. Or Press Track Forward One Frame at frame 50.
Resolve will track 51, but Fusion Studio will track frame 1.
  • Resolve is super fast tracking but Fusion Studio is slow tracking (Maybe it's because the Loader is slow.)
  • Frames with strokes are not cached in memory. Cannot be played back smoothly.
  • Tracking data (Mask data?) not saved. You must re-generate all.
AI's personality has improved, but Fusion Studio's personality could be a problem...

As in Young Frankenstein (1974), they have mistakenly put Abbi Normal's brain in the Fusion version.

This could also explain the behavior that I have observed see post below.

New InteliTracker seems to work faster in Fusion Studio. One fly may have accidentally entered MagicMask!
