What is the difference of camera 3D and Project 3D?

PostThu Mar 30, 2017 6:54 am

Hi guys

I've recently saw the project 3D tool i read about it in tge manual but i still don't understand it very well

Is the project 3D like an adjustment layer for textures or something like that?

I have no idea, please educate when you can

Please and thank you

The Camera3D tool supports having an image attached at a specific depth using the image plane options.

This is a Camera node with an attached imageplane. The camera's "Image" tab is visible when you connect an image to the Camera3D.ImageInput connection.

The Project3D node allows you to create matte painted backgrounds from multiple images by pushing (projecting) a texture map onto a polygon mesh in the scene. You need to connect a catcher node to the mesh to make this approach work.

This process is covered in the following classic Eyeon era Fusion tutorial video:

CompFu (Stefan Ihringer) has also created a Fusion tutorial video on using multiple projection nodes at the same time:

The Projector3D is basically a spotlight with a texture.
