Polygon Duration

I have a polygon which I want to apply only to a few frames in the middle of the comp. When I go to the timeline and set its start and end, the comp freezes except for the frames that contain the polygon. What am I missing?

Easiest thing is to put a Rct as the input to the Ply and let the Rct have the range of the comp.
