Bug or Unintuitive UX? Can't delete keyframe in panel.

PostFri Dec 27, 2019 5:26 pm

I'm using Resolve 16.1.2.026.
OSX 10.14.6

Working through the Fusion lessons in the "Davince Resolve 15 Fusion Visual Effects" PDF.

On page 153 of the PDF there is an instruction to delete a keyframe by clicking the red keyframe button to the right of the time slider to disable that keyframe. This works.

If you go into the Keyframes panel on the top right of Resolve and try to select that keyframe and delete it, you can't.

However, if you add another keyframe, you can delete that. The issue is that you can't delete the first keyframe.

Is this a feature of Resolve? It comes across in the user interface as a bug because the behavior is inconsistent. But I have the feeling there's a reason Resolve won't let me delete that first keyframe in the Keyframe panel. But why can I delete it by moving to that spot in the timeline and hitting the keyframe button?

Thanks,

Mark Maunder.

The first key frame changes from a diamond (in use) to a dot (no parameters). Essentially a reset.

I'm not seeing the diamond you're referring to. I'm in Fusion looking at the Keyframes panel. I think you're in Color looking at the keyframes there? In color they appear as diamonds. In Fusion they appear as lines.

My apologies. Replying via Tapatalk and did/can not see that this was under the fusion forum. Please disregard.

That behaviour is specific to the TimeStretcher node. If you animate pretty much any other parameter on any other node, you can delete keyframes from the Keyframe panel. In my example below, I am deleting a keyframe from a Text+ node by using the Keyframe panel.

Now try to delete that last keyframe. I just created a new Text+ node with three keyframes to re-test this. Deleted two. Can't delete the last one, as described above.

The last one has to be deleted from right-clicking on the parameter name that you keyframed and choosing delete. It is because when you delete the last keyframe you are removing the animation of that parameter entirely. The same thing happens in the Spline Editor.
