Fusion training PDF and project files don't match.

PostThu Jan 02, 2020 3:32 am

Anyone else notice that the fusion training on this page:

https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/produc ... e/training

has a PDF that is pretty awesome which you can find here:

https://documents.blackmagicdesign.com/ ... 7904201000

And project files which the PDF refers to which you can find here:

http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/dvres/f ... -resolve15

But unfortunately the project files are missing many of the things the PDF refers to. For example, page 267 explains how to set up a particle system and suggests that you open the "12 Lesson Start" timeline and use the 3D fusion composite of the band for your exercise.

The project file is missing this.

Also quite a few timelines are numbered incorrectly.

This is unfortunate because I'd really like to do this training, but it means I need to find a way to muddle through without the media they're referring to.

Regards,

Mark.
EDIT: FYI, I checked and the paper book available for $49.99 from Amazon also refers to the same URL for downloading the training files. So presumably the print version of the book as the same issue.

There is a problem a lot of people are having with the project files downloaded from BMD's site which relates to how you use them. They are Project Archive files, ".dra files which have to be opened from within Resolve in a certain way. I made a video about it, you can skip to around the 3-minute mark or so if you have already downloaded the files.

Thanks. I haven't had a problem restoring .dra files. I've been restoring the archives correctly. Here's the DRA file I used for Part 3 of the Fusion lessons.

The lessons in the pdf do seem to have some errors. I found the band footage and 3d scene they are referencing in the Lesson 11 Start timeline.
