Linux is based on an AT&T Unix System 5 clone, OSX is based on a Berkeley Systems Development clone. They're not the same, though they have a lot in common. More significant though is that the UI libraries for OSX are very different. Some of the lower level libraries are, also.
Unix has always been very fractured; there were a lot of variations, and porting even simple applications from one to another was often a pain in the booty. I did it myself several times, and eventually that was enough to drive me to develop in Windows, since OS/2 was while far superior, "backed" (as in "shot in the") by IBM's marketing.
Fingers crossed that BMD is hard at work developing OSX versions of Fusion.
If it wasn't already happening when BMD bought Eyeon, it's probably not in progress yet. My guess however is that there will be an OSX version, the when part is however anybody's guess.
