Make sure that 2.7 is the default version in fusion preferences-Globals and new comp defaults-Script

Otherwise, your extensions have to be .py2 in order for fusion to know what version to invoke.
Perhaps not necessary, but I always have my python 2.7 installed in the default installation folder.

options to pick between python 3.1 and 2.7 are greyed out (not letting the user pick) under script > default python version ( its on python 3.1)

This is very unclear in the manual (not even talked about). Where do you put a Python installation to get Fusion to see it?

Image

By default Python installs itself at the root level of the hard drive. As far as the Global Preferences, I don't see any specific listing for choice of scripting language, or path to the executable for the scripting language. There is a listing for the Path Map to Libraries, but I'm not sure what that is referring to.

Thanks.

It a appears that you don't have python 2.7 installed, or at least it's not in the root of C:
It should create a folder called python27 (install 64 bit one)

If fusion does not see the 2.7, it will default to 3.1 which it has built into it's install, and won't give the option to change it.
If the 2.7 (python27) folder is present, you will get the option to select it.

Let me know if that works.

For others who might have missed this, Fusion requires the 64 bit version of Python. If you install the 32 bit version Fusion will NOT recognize it.

Thanks.

Is there a way to point fusion to the desire python installation via an environment varible??
i have my clients running python from a network location to eliminate the need for deploying python on every machine. it would be very nice if i could keep it this way :)

Is there something else I need to do to get Fusion to recognize python2.7? I'm running 64bit version of python 2.76 on windows 7 enterprise (64bit),with Fusion Studio 8.2.1. Python is installed to the standard location of C:\Python27 and is also present in my system PATH environment variable.

Fusion 8.2.1 still doesn't see python2.7

Any ideas?

Hi there, is there somthing new about this?
I have Fusion 8 Studio version running, Python27 installed at the default place on C: and no way to make the two work together.
