is Your hardware a laptop, as i think it is?

I guess this is the issues with NVIDIA optimus tech. i've used Fu on 3 laptops and there was the same issue. Even if i had Nvidia selected in windows as default card for fusion.exe things didn't work well.
The best solution was to manually select NVIDIA as OpenCL device in Fusion preferences. Even though sometimes it showed that "there is no OpenCl device" everything worked fine.

hope this helps

happy fusioning

Unfortunately, that solution requires Fusion Studio.

OpenCL works in Fusion free also, you just can't select which card you are using in the free version.

why there is no OpenCL checker on some nodes, like Defocus or VolumeFog like it was in 7.0? Do those nodes use OpenCL by default? Not sure, actually.. But maybe those nodes use defaults, sometimes I see errors at the console about OpenCL fails..

I get an OpenCL check box for both of those tools on my installation of Fusion Free. It's located on the bottom of the the properties of each of them.

The checkboxes do not appear if you do not have an OpenCL device (with drivers for OpenCL) installed. Basically Fusion doesn't show you the option for something you don't have.
