setting time range for nodes to be ON

PostWed Dec 31, 2014 2:32 pm

I wish fusion didn't fail the composite when nodes can't get inputs.... I want to turn stuff on then off when its not needed.

At the moment all nodes have to be on otherwise the composite fails to render.

It would be more efficient to turn nodes off in the timeline by setting the time range which they operate

I used to use this feature a lot back in my 'Shake' days

Hi Ken,

You can drag the values of the tools globals in the timeline view.
This will do exactly what you want, including setting when a saver starts to save etc..

Try that

Hi Rony,

I'd like to log a feature request related to that: If you restrict the range of masks in the timeline view the tool they're connected to fails outside the mask's range. It would be nice if the tool treated that situation as if no mask was connected.

cheers

Likewise, a saver with a limited range will still make requests for the input, even though nothing gets written to disk.

I feel you on that. I've had to make a few workarounds in my day, like using dissolve nodes to turn masks on and off by applying masks to bgs, then dissolve between blank bgs and masked bgs.
