How to do "Pixel Poly" or "Shatter" effect?

PostTue Feb 10, 2015 1:25 pm

So, as an After Effects user learning Fusion, I'm trying to figure out how to do the equivalent of After Effects Pixel Poly or Shatter effect in Fusion. Any pointers? Nothings jumping out at me when I go through the list of Fusion tools.

I am not an AE user, so can you describe what the effect does?

It's an effect that breaks up the item it's applied to into polygons and flies them apart. You can adjust the size of the polygons, and the physics of the forces that apply to the pieces. It's great for exploding things. Check out http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/p ... explosion/ at 2:25 in.

I appreciate any advice!

First thing that comes to mind is Poly Play from the Krokodove toolset. But you need the Studio version of Fusion...

the simplest way without the plugins is to use particles. pImageEmitter with some turbulence and forces will do the trick.
Next stop is to go full 3D with particles and Replicate3D (for switching the particles into 3D geom), perhaps UVmap to get the original color + extra shading and light to enhance ;)
the trick here is to set the camera right ;)

Ah, cool! I don't suppose there's any sort of tutorial video on doing what you describe? I'll play with it at any rate.

Thanks!

The audio is pretty bad on those tutorials (Great tutorials though by the way)
But on the second one, the mouse click had me in stitches hahaha, how can it possibly be twenty times louder than the vocal hahaha
