Default LUT for Generation AM 3.2?

PostThu Mar 05, 2015 2:25 pm

Hi,

I am testing Generation AM 3.2 and want to load in a simple LUT to tone map from the OpenEXR file to the sRGB monitor - why is this not included with the install?

Thank you.

Is the exr linear ? You can make your own LUTs in Fusion and save them for use in other software.

But your right Generation should have a bunch to use by default like davinci ...

You could grab the LUTs from davinci and use them with Generation.

C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\LUT\

Just a short note, technically speaking: If it is not, it is not an exr :-)

OpenEXR is linear by specs. Being aware that exr is a great floating-point container, which people (miss-)use for everything just keep in mind: There is (unfortunately) no standarized way of specifying the color space (?).

It's best to keep stuff in EXRs linear. LUTs are not that expensive, and we know how bad undefined color spaces are when you need to comp linear.

Thanks for all the replies!
I put this one on pause for a bit but I'm back at it...

@Ken's suggestion - I tried this but there is not an existing file format to import from here :

C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\LUT\

GenAM will not load any of those.

As an alternative, is there a page of how to export a LUT from Fusion?

Thanks again!

Hi again,

So we have the LUT working now but it does not maintain between the Edit Desk view and the Player view.

Our thumbnails appear dark and unconverted when you are in the Edit view, in the Player the full images are fine.

Is there some magic config file to correct this?

Thanks!
