Allowing Disk Cache to be used during net rendering

PostWed Mar 18, 2015 6:28 pm

Hey guys,

As our comps are becoming ever bigger over time the use of cache in different parts of the tree becomes a huge saver.
we've found that we can even cache them to the network and still gain significant speed boosts by utilising it properly.
The only limitation is that when we send a render job using deadline we cannot tell the job to use the disk cache data and renders that could have been rendering much faster are as slow as hell.

Any way of doing this or adding it to the next build?

Thanks!!!

This should have nothing to do with Deadline. If a comp is loaded into fusion/node, the nodes that have caches are evaluated to see if the path is valid. If it is, it will use it.

Make sure that your cache path is accessible from rendernode.

You can always render to intermediate exrs that you load back in. Here's a script that turns a saver into a loader which makes this process easy:

Loader_from_Saver_v07.eyeonscript
