Invert loader

PostThu May 14, 2015 3:41 pm

Is there away to invert an image in Fusion? I have a depth pass that I need white to become black and black to become white. In AE I would just use the effect "invert". Is there something comparable in Fusion?

If you add a ChannelBoolean node, you can select "Negative" as the operation. That should invert RGBA. You can also enable extra channels to do the Z.

Hope that works for you,
Steph

Thanks Steph!

Adding Channel Booleans, and selecting operation to negative and turning off Alpha in Common Controls does the trick, thanks again!

In case this is new to you:
You can save this as a preset (so called Setting).

1. Right Click on the Title of the Tool in the Properties View.
2. Choose Settings -> Save As ...
3a. Choose a location in the Settings folder, name it "Invert" and it will be added to this very same Settings List.
3b. Choose a location in the Macro folder (one directory up), name it "Invert" and you will be able to add it via the Add-Tool Dialog (CTRL+Space) by typing Invert.

Thank you
That is so simple, yet very useful

Another option is to build it into the S1-S6 buttons at the top of any node, then save as 'default' and now you can have a default tool set with multiple built in settings.

You cannot label them, but you can easily have that in info tabs.

Can this be saved to a network location for all users the locate? While we're at it, can scripts, macros, fuses all be saved to a network location so we don't have to manually copy them to each individual computer?

Yes, just append them in your Map Path preferences using a semicolon separator. Like this... AllDocs:Macros;Fusion:Macros;AllData:VolumePreviewMacros;SRVR_K:SharedMacros

- Chad

PS. If you are using network shared Fuses, then you're advanced enough to have a Fuse that does inverting without the overhead of Bol. I have a very fast one, if you don't want to go through the exercise yourself, send me a PM.

not that advanced yet Chad, when I get there I'd be happy to take you up on the offer.

Thanks,

Where can we connect with people and share workflows and best practices with Resolve/Fusion and Fusion?

Would love to chat a bit about it with someone that feels they have a successful pipeline.

Cheers :) :) :)
Cheers,

Ian
