Second viewer window controls are black.

PostThu Jun 18, 2015 3:50 pm

On a two monitor system, I create a new viewer and drag it to the 2nd monitor. (Window/New ImageView.) All the controls for any node, roto, trackers, etc. in that window are black.

If I make ANOTHER new viewer and display the same nodes in it, THOSE controls all appear to be the correct color. This look like a bug to me.

I see this might be confusing since I really meant viewer controls in the second monitor window are black, not viewer 2. Basically, viewer 3 controls are black and viewer 4 controls are correct.

I can not confirm this.
I make a new view for the seconds monitor and all the controls there are shown in the correct color (green for the most part).

So it must be related to your graphics hardware / driver.
You'd need to send in your specs for the bug report to be useful. You might also try to update your graphics card driver (I know I say this a lot :-) ).

What does happen when you move the window around to the first monitor.

Just in case, check if under Preferences -->View, the settings for floating views' control colors are red and green indeed.

Happily. Meanwhile, is this the place for bug reports? I was posting here in the public forum mostly to see if other users had the same issue. I've written thousands of official bug reports when an official beta tester for Autodesk and Newtek over 20 years of doing VFX. ;-)

Here are the specs:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Driver Version 353.06
Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz
32GB RAM

Anything else?

I might add, if I add yet another 4th viewer and view the same node there, THOSE controls do, in fact, render as green lines. Only the 3rd viewer renders the controls (poly splines) as black.

My workaround is to just add two viewers, ignore the 3rd and maximize the 4th.

Can anyone here tell me where to publish actual bug reports? This one just seems to have been chucked down an empty well. I'd love to know how to fix this if the problem is on my end, but it really doesn't look like it is.

Bug reporting inside the application has been disabled, and there's no official bug reporting mechanism detailed in the documentation. If we were meant to report it in the forums, they'd probably have a sticky post on how to do that. Best I can tell the way you are officially supposed to do it is https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/contact/email. You can paste a comp or setting or fuse or script or whatever in there, but if you need to send them binary files, you probably need to tell them you have them and send them when they reply.
