Lets just make this clear once and for all, this isn't a v7.0.x -> v8 update, it's a v7.7.x -> v8 update, so there will not be any huge changes. The main feature for this release is OS X and Linux support, so if you're in Windows, like me, this will not be a huge update, more of a GUI update with the major changes done in the framework, under the surface, so to speak.
This also means it's likely this version will have some issues in the beginning as you have a new code base for handling files and such, so think about that before getting annoyed with new bugs in v8, it's for the benefit of OS X and Linux users.
