Just installed it. Playing around with it and so far so good. Kudos to the team! Nodes are fun!

looks like the 8 PDF is the 7 manual? The UI screenshots are from 7... and from v6 still. I'l still rifling through it as it's a big manual! :p Looks like they have some catching up to do on the documentation side. No worries! I get to play when I get home!

Lets just make this clear once and for all, this isn't a v7.0.x -> v8 update, it's a v7.7.x -> v8 update, so there will not be any huge changes. The main feature for this release is OS X and Linux support, so if you're in Windows, like me, this will not be a huge update, more of a GUI update with the major changes done in the framework, under the surface, so to speak.

This also means it's likely this version will have some issues in the beginning as you have a new code base for handling files and such, so think about that before getting annoyed with new bugs in v8, it's for the benefit of OS X and Linux users. :)

Does this install on a separate folder or does it overwrite Fusion 7 on Win?

Nuke in progress v2? LOL, yeah, and you're still saving with the time at a late frame - you really gotta remember, when saving scene files with heavy sims, be sure to be at frame 0/1 or it'll lock up loading as it starts to sim directly. ;)

But sadly I've been busy working with a FLIP setup for a current gig so haven't had time to go through it, I'll see if I get time to check it out this weekend.

So now we brought in Houdini in the tread, we're doubling the madness. :D

first found : Gain node is now called ColorGain and got a lot more sliders.

so you have to replace that if you open an old comp.

What do you mean Prores working on windows? Exporting to Prores, or just processing prores files?

Color Gain isn't a new tool. Gain wasn't really a production tool, it was just a sample Fuse. It's been moved to the Developer folder, so you can add it back if you want, but you shouldn't since it's not really designed for production work.

Yeah just noticed thats not new, thought so after FU8 failed to load gain and after typing "gain" in the add tool it showed colorgain, never noticed that before. :D

I used gain alot for alpha/ mask blends or cutouts, as it was simple and fast even in production :O
