Initial Problems Found

PostSun Aug 30, 2015 4:41 pm

I just downloaded the beta, and I have to say I like the new interface. It is was better than Fusion 7.

However, I have noticed a couple of small things missing. Dragging and dropping tools to the Bins doesn't work. I can add items from external files, but dragging a series of nodes from the Flow to save them for later use doesn't work.

Also, the Hotkey Manager isn't available. I tried finding another way to customize the shortcuts, but I haven't been able to.

The last thing is a problem with the Particles. It's not exclusive to Fusion 8, since I had the same issue with version 7. The Motion Blur, located under the Common Controls tab of the pRender node, does nothing to the particles but changing their position. It doesn't produce any actual motion blur, like that producer by the Merge or the Renderer3D nodes.

Are you making 2D or 3D particles?

I am using a 2D image, connecting it to a 3D image plane, and adding it to a 3D particle system using the Replicate3D node.

I tried also using the bitmap particle style in the pEmitter, but it also didn't work. It doesn't work even when I am using any of Fusion 3D shapes as particles. And it doesn't work also using the default particle styles like the Blob for instance.

Works fine for me in 7 and 8. Maybe start a new thread in the main Fusion forum and post a setting?

Thank you Chad for your reply. However, excuse my ignorance since I am a bit new to using Fusion, what do you exactly mean when you say I should post a setting??

Copy the tools that aren't working as expected and paste them into your forum post. Use the code tags to make formatting easier.

Drag and Drop into bins and onto view from bins is currently not working. These are known bugs.

Motion blur..
I'm not having issues with motion blur here, did tests and have been demoing.
Is MB pressed in the timeruller?
Also, motion blur has to be the same on particles and 3D renderer.

Hi Rony. Thank you very much for your reply. The MB button was pressed, because I was able to see the motion blur on other 3D objects. The problem was that I only had the motion blur checked on either the particles or the 3D renderer, but not both at the same time.

It is now working. The only issue is that it's very faint. I had to attach a Glow node after the 3D renderer to boost it a bit. It might only be an issue of tweaking some settings here and there on the particle system. I will see what happens with that.

Thank you very much.

You can also try using sub-pixel rendering option in the pRender, also help improve the flow of particles, but at a performance hit of course.

Also bear in mind that Fusion uses linear color. Motion blur is linear, so it may not look the same as you would expect from nonlinear reference footage. Once you linearize the reference footage or nonlinearize the render in Fusion it will look as expected.
