Stitching VR multicam rigs in Fusion?

PostTue Jan 17, 2017 8:17 pm

Is there a known workflow for this task in Fusion? Any plans to incorporate a VR stitching workflow in the future?

Nuke + CaraVr seems to be the only option currently to achieve a high quality fine stitch.

I'm doing it with CustomShader3D and GridWarp along with some camera reprojection and paint. The results have been very high quality, but it's a lot of work. So far it's been worth it though.

HI Chad,

Thanks for your insight.

How are you dealing with subjects crossing stitch lines seamlessly?

I did some simple comp stuff for a client a while ago over latlongs by projecting onto a sphere. Its not great as Fusion has no 360 projection tools but was suitable for what the client needed.

I was going to buy these:

There is some stuff good stuff there and the guy Andrew, seems very clued up and is a really helpful. If I have another project I will probably purchase them. I'm hoping Fusion 9 will get some VR tools, that and a 3D tracker are all that is needed to stop me from missing Nuke (and the price tag).

Chad if you can be bothered explaining the Custom shader stuff I would also really appreciate a bit more knowledge on the topic.

Seems like the macro page blog is dead now.

Any other options out there ?

Did Fusion get these features? we are going to be tackling some motion control camera stitching and are also trying to avoid multiple licenses of Nuke and Kara.
Cheers,

Ian

Fusion is the best solution for stitching, but needs a modified version of Tween for optical flow stitching. Scripts to better integrate PTGui are a must too. All of the underlying tech is there, it just needs some attention to implement.
