LUT question

PostMon Mar 06, 2017 9:44 pm

Hey guys - quick question: I have logC footage of an Alexa to work with, so: I set the loader to float16, make sure I have set that in the preferences as well.

Then I attach a cineonLog tool to convert the logC footage to linear for compositing purposes, set the log type to ARRI logC. Now, obviously, my viewer goes a lot darker. When I set the LUT to display sRGB space, though, I do not get the same colors as compared to those viewing the original footage without LUT. Shouldn't those be identical as all I have done at this stage is convert LOG to linear color space and compensate for that by viewing it with an sRGB LUT?

Why would log look like srgb? They shouldn't look at all alike. If you had a logC->srgb LUT, then sure, but with no LUT applied, no they shouldn't look the same.
